Me and my mate decided on this route today, as i'm only a novice mountain biker (this being my 2nd outing) and both thoroughly enjoyed it, even though we got lost on the last decent of the ride and ended up at the wrong end of Scaling Dam! Once you have pedalled the first 1.7 mile ascent and find your way onto the moor path (opposite the 'Scubdale Farm' sign) the fun begins, the weather was beautiful and so was the scenery. Because we went a bit awry at the end, we probably covered about 15 miles in total which took us around 3 hours.
Path, what path?

A further recce, and once again I failed to find any sign of the BW across Liverton moor. Just stay on the rather busy A 171 from the car park, till the Castleton turn (about 1 1/4 miles) and carry on with the route, as described.
