Comments for Ravenscar Short Loop

Very enjoyable route taking in fine views over Robin Hoods Bay. Would recommend checking out a 1;25,000 map prior to setting off (and take along too!)to ensure correct route followed. Relatively dry spell of late, so generally very rideable, but still quite muddy beyond Stoupe Brow Farm just after the ford/bridge. There is a narrow stone edge to this section, but not possible to push both the bike and yourself along this. Also a field full of bulls just after Fyling Old Hall Farm, which looked intimidating but caused no problems........

Just off this route, before Fyling Hall (the school) you might notice a track on the left. This track is not a right of way at present. However, there's a bridleway that dead ends near by, and it looks like the route orginally extended further down the track which I just mentioned (as otherwise it would be a rather pointless BW), but for some reason this was not recorded in the 1950s when the rights of way were recorded. If anybody has any evidence that they, or somebody else have used this route by bike or horse, in the past, please get in contact with me, and we can forward the information to the national park, who may be able dedicate the route as a bridleway. Just been out on this ride on a windy, wintry day. It was pretty muddy. Despite the mud it was almost all ridable. Just not particularly easy, even if I got around it in two hours. If you are looking for an easy ride, wait til summer.
