this route is a really nice day ride, taking a few hours. in good weather the singletrack is dry and dusty, making it really fast. in, or after, bad weather its a tad muddy in places, but isn't mud what mtbing all about?! there are 2 fantastic descents on this route, the second one is on moorland singletrack, dropping down the side of the moor - nice and thin and weaving, but look out for the hidden rocks... fantastic! at times the bracken is pretty overgrown, making it difficult to see the frontwheel, let alone the trail, just adds to the fun. there is one point on this descent where geting off the bike is necessary, jus to go down a very steep bank. after this, it gets a bit more technicl, but it is rideable. none of the climbs are too bad almost enjoyable at times. i've ridden this twice, once hot and sunny, the other in the snow/ice, and both times it has been a fantastic ride. oh, and its easy to find a pub nearby - however the pub at hutton-le-hole (i think - its the one at the top of the hill, which the car park is at the bottom of [if that makes sense]) isn't open on sunday afternoons... go to kirkbymoorside instead.
